Miami’s glorious weather perfectly lends itself to nature, as anyone who has ever visited the Everglades will tell you. If you plan your visit between May and October, you will be able to enjoy sea turtle nesting season in full swing. Florida’s ecosystem is a natural habitat for these endangered species, who lay eggs on the beach. Visitors should look out for yellow tape and flag poles on the beaches of Florida to protect these eggs during breeding season. From green turtles to leatherback sea turtles, the best way to enjoy this sight, is from the comfort of your waterside villa in Miami.

There’s nothing more magical than the flutter of fireflies brightening up the night sky with their glow. Between the end of May and early June, this is a sight to behold in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. It also happens to be the largest coming together of fireflies in the world, which always attracts a large crowd and lots of cameras. People come from afar to witness this annual event, many from the luxury North Carolina rentals, a four to five hour drive away.

When it comes to watching animals in their natural habitat, nowhere in the world quite compares to Africa. Kruger National Park might just be one of the most famous in the world for animal lovers, with 20,000 square kilometres to uncover.

It is also a particular magnet for ornithologists, with over 500 bird species to observe all year-round. That said, visit between November and April and you’ll be able to see the migration of Eurasian and intra-African birds, including the Brown Snake Eagle, Kingfishers, starlings and Tawny Eagles.

There’s more to this Caribbean island than luxury St Barths villas and pina coladas. The island is home to some of the most exotic and endangered wildlife, include its iguanas, as well as dolphins and wales off its shoreline.

Take a guided tour out to sea when the waters at at their warmest, for some spectacular views. Between December and April is mating season, where you can even hear humpback whales singing to lure their partners in! Dolphin sightings are quite common, especially in and around the luscious waters of Creole Rock.

For the millions that visit South Africa and it’s extraordinary villas for rent every year, there is one highlight not to be missed: The Serengeti in Tanzania. This National Park is home to a multitude of wildlife and exotic animals, including the revered Wildebeest. This dramatic and annual mass movement of the striking animal can be observed at various points, including the Mara River and Masai Mari National Park. The best time to visit is between December and March, since the migration is largely determined by rainfall.
