Taking over the island for one whole week, it attracts a welcoming up-for-it crowd that likes to party.

If you’re not impacted by the school holidays, September through to late October is one of the best times to book your luxury Mykonos villa. The crowds start to disperse and the bars and restaurants are more relaxed. It’s also a lovely time to enjoy milder temperatures, with the sea still warm enough to take a dip. Marked by the Harvest Festival in September, this is an interesting local cultural event that brings villagers and their traditional foods together.

Not traditionally a busy time for the island, you can expect colder weather and occasional rain come winter. Many locals go into hibernation, with only a smattering of tavernas open to the public. There are however a number of local events worthy of a visit. The ‘Apokries’ carnival in February is a relaxed religious festival that takes place 40 days before the start of lent. It combines religious ceremonies with traditional feasts and a procession which includes traditional costume and music. It’s a fun, but very local event to enjoy.
